Ribeira da Janela in Madeira is an exposed reef and point break that only works once in a while. Autumn and winter are the favoured times of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the south. Tends to receive a mix of groundswells and windswells and the ideal swell angle is from the north northwest. There is no beach break as well as a left hand reef break. and in addition, there is also a left hand point break. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Submerged rocks are a hazard.
