Matarangi in The Coromandel is a sheltered sandbar break that has fairly consistent surf and can work at any time of the year. Offshore winds blow from the south. Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell angle is from the north northeast. Prevailing left breaking waves at the sandbar break. Rarely crowded here. Watch out for rips and sharks.
