Fun waves at the point. Mostly SSE swell made it bigger and better at Wainui and the Makorori breaks to the north. By afternoon, the summer sea-breeze had blown it to bits at all of these places. Unless there is a NW offshore ahead of an approaching low, this is the usual pattern in summer anticyclones.
