Gisborne and Mahia Surf Forecast map for predicting the best wave and wind conditions across the region. For surfers, the map shows the most powerful swell tracking across near-shore open water and not the peak waves experienced by boats out at sea. Move your mouse over the ocean swell symbols or the surf breaks on the coastline to see a more detailed surf forecast including wave period and wind conditions. The forecast updates every 6 hours and most live weather reports update every hour. You can animate the Gisborne and Mahia Surf map or show live wind and wave conditions as reported from wavebuoys and local weather stations. 1. By 2pm it was for kites and windsurfers as the southerly wind reached force 5 but until about 11:30am there was clean chest high surf on offer. Glorious day compared to Sunday.
  2. Monday morning offered fun waves about shoulder high and clean until the sotherly breeze arrived at about 11am. You appreaciate what a classy spot Makorori is when a mish-mash of weak small swells can still be so worthwhile.

Eyeball Gisborne and Mahia Surf Reports are sent in by surfers living or working at the Gisborne and Mahia surf breaks. We don't publish reports from secret spots and reporters send in wave reports from more popular or indicator breaks to help their local surf community.
