Grande Anse in la Digue is an exposed reef break that has fairly consistent surf. Winter is the best time of year for surfing here. The best wind direction is from the northwest. Waves just as likely from local windswells as from distant groundswells and the optimum swell angle is from the southeast. There are left and right breaking reefs. Relatively few surfers here, even on good days. Submerged rocks are a hazard.
